Six for Sunday – Characters I’d Name My Kid After

Hey there! This week I’m participating in Six for Sunday, a meme hosted by Steph at A Little But a Lot. This week topic is: Six Characters I’d Name My Kid After.

Here we go!

1. Jean Valjean – Les Miserables

I would be remiss if I didn’t put Jean Valjean as my first choice. I named my blog after a song from the musical, and I have a tattoo with Valjean’s name and prison number. In fact, I have several Les Miserables tattoos! This is by far the most moving book and play I have ever seen, and it helped me through some tough times.

Jean Valjean represents all that is good, loving, and selfless. Love him!

2. Jane Bennet – Pride and Prejudice

My second daughter’s name is actually Jane!

I love Pride and Prejudice, and I love Jane Austen.

Jane Bennet is kind and sincere, and she never has a bad word for anyone. I admire her inner beauty and her willingness to see the good in everyone.

3. June – Legend

June is a strong, smart, and brave protagonist. She has a fierce loyalty to her family and a willingness to fight for social justice.

She is also very determined. She constantly fights to find and expose the truth.

I think she has so many admirable qualities, and I love her name.

4. Molly Weasley – The Harry Potter Series

There are so many characters in Harry Potter that I adore – Hermione, Ron, Hedwig, Harry Dumbledore, Tonks, McGonagall, but Molly Weasley is a queen!

Fiercly protective of those she loves, smart, funny, and sensitive, Molly Weasley is the kind of mom I want to be.

I would be proud to name my kid after this fierce mama bear!

5. Rema – The Key

This is a fabulous series by Jannifer Anne Davis if you like YA fantasy. Rema, the protagonist, is a survivor. She witness terrible tragedy, and suffers terribly at the hands of people more powerful than her. But she is a strong and resilient young woman who never gives up. Her characters grows and changes a ton throughout this series, but Rema always stays true to herself.

6. Katniss Everdeen – The Hunger Games Series

This list wouldn’t be complete without my girl Katniss.

I must have read this series twenty times. I liked it so much that I bought a classroom set so that I could teach it! lol

I love Katniss. She is smart, cunning, brave, loyal, and caring. She is a force to be reckoned with!

There you have it. I hope you liked my choices!

Sidenote: My son’s name is Luke – not after a book but after my favorite movie trilogy:

May The Force Be With You on this fine Sunday!

  1. The amount of times I’ve tried to get someone to name a child/animal after a fictional character is a lot. One of these days I’ll end up using the name Anne or Jude

    1. I understand exactly what you mean. It’s impossible to describe the profound and deep way in which this story (book and musical) has affected and moved me. 🙂

      1. The FIRST time I saw the musical movie, Les Mis actually really wasn’t becoming a part of my life.

It was in the SECOND time when Les Mis finally began to have an impact on me.
