Top 10 Tuesday: My Most Read Authors

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The Topic This Week Is: Authors I’ve Read the Most

This is a great topic and one that surprised me a bit. Several authors made the list that I didn’t expect, and several that I assumed would make the list didn’t.

I should point out that this list does not include re-reads. If re-reads were included, Suzanne Collins and J.K. Rowling would have been in the top three.

I also want to point out that this list includes books I’ve read over a twenty year time period. I definitely go through phases where I find an author I like and binge as many books by them as I can. This is the case with several author on my list, for sure.

On that note, let’s see which authors made the list!

#10: Jennifer L. Armentrout – 15 Books

The first book I read by Jennifer L. Armentrout was Obsidian. The cover, the story, the characters – ugh! I just loved everything about this series. It appealed to my ya fantasy-romance reader’s heart!

Armentrout weaves a good tale, and her stories are so unbelievably immersive. I basically will read anything by her!

#9: Evangeline Anderson – 17 Books

What can I say? I’m a fan of sci-fi romance!

Evangeline Anderson’s  Brides of the Kindred series is the first series I read in this genre, and I loved it! Awesome characters, amazing world-building, and super hunky alpha-aliens made this series a go-to read for me.

#8: Amanda Hocking – 18 Books

I first read Amanda Hocking’s My Blood Approves series years ago. It is a fun and immersive ya paranormal romance, and, as soon as I finished, I binged all of her other books.

Now, I’m waiting for her new series, The Omte Origins, which heads back into the Trylle world!! Woot, woot!

#7: Kailin Gow – 20 Books

I was surprised that I’ve read so many of Kailin Gow’s books! This is proof that I am a major binge-reader. Much like I did with Amanda Hocking’s books, after I read by first book by Gow, I binged a bunch of others. Quick and fun ya fantasy/romances, I flew through her stories.

#6: Robyn Carr – 22 Books

The Virgin River series is wonderful, and I’m a big Robyn Carr fan.

Netflix recently turned Virgin River into a series, and I, of course, binged that much like I binge my books. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good romance!

#5: Lynsay Sands – 23 Books

Lynsay Sands is a fabulous romance novelist! From paranormal to historical romances, her stories are filled with dynamic characters, rich dialogue, and interesting plot-lines.

Plus, the romances are always swoon-worthy!

#4: Jude Deveraux – 24 Books

The Mulberry Tree is my favorite Jude Deveraux novel, but, obviously, I’m a fan of her writing.

She writes lovely historical and contemporary romances which is clearly one of my favorite genres. lol

#3: Danielle Steel – 26 Books

When I was in tenth grade, I read Danielle Steel’s Wanderlust. It was my first “adult” romance novel, and I devoured it. From tenth to twelfth grade, I probably read a dozen Steel novels and continued my love of her books through college. I haven’t read much of Steel’s work lately, but twenty years ago, she was one of my faves!

#2: Francine Pascal – 27 Books

Sweet Valley High was my go-to series when I was a young teen. I loved the twin sisters and all of the shenanigans they got into.

I borrowed every Sweet Valley High book that they had at my local library, and, as you can see, they were well stocked!

#1 – Nora Roberts: More than 60 Books

I know! This is an obnoxious number of books, but it’s Nora Roberts! It’s hard to go wrong with Nora Roberts! She’s written like 8 million books, and I’d like to read all of them. She is the author that I’ve read the longest – I can remember reading her stories when I was in high school.

Some of my favorites include Sanctuary, the In the Garden trilogy, The Key trilogy, Northern Lights, Three Sisters Island trilogy, and the Gallaghers of Ardmore series. I just finished her upcoming novel The Awakening, which is due for release in November. It’s fantastic!

Based on my most-read authors, several things are clear:

1. I’m a big fan of romance novels.
2. I favor female authors.
3. I binge-read authors I love.
4. I have a lot of time on my hands. lol
5. I love to read!
