A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

Outlander (Outlander, #1)

I have a friend who continually recommends Outlander. She loves the books, the shows, and the Outlander merch. She even had an Outlander party to celebrate the start of the show!

I’ve tried the book and show but DNF’d both. It just didn’t do it for me, which is surprising considering how much I enjoy historical romances.

Maybe someday I’ll try this series again, but…eh.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t read it

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

Oooh, I love this one! I’m going with City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. It’s been on my TBR forever, and I still haven’t read it. Someday I will! It sounds like a series that I would love, that’s for sure.

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing

The Wicked King
The Queen of Nothing

I read the first book in the series and enjoyed it, but I never continued the series. I don’t know why, and I feel like I should rectify this! Considering how much my blogging friends love the series, I have a sneaking suspicion this series will become one of my faves.

What do you think? Should this be one of my next reads?

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but have never actually read

I’ve read (and taught) a lot of classics. Some of my favorites include Les Miserables, Pride and Prejudice, Tartuffe, Macbeth, and Rebecca. However, one classic that I always thought sounded intriguing yet never read is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

I bought the book and still haven’t read it. Soon, I promise! I hear about Six of Crows all of the time, and it’s always positive. I read The Shadow and Bone series and loved it, so I have a feeling that I’ll love this book too.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but just haven’t picked up yet

The 100 (The 100 #1)

The 100. I love the show, but I haven’t read the books. I haven’t heard much about them, though my teenage son read the first two and enjoyed them.

Have you read them? Are they as good or better than the tv show?

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

I’m not part of Instagram, so I can’t really answer this one. If you’re on Instagram, what books show up a ton?

I’m not tagging anyone specifically for this one, but if you think it seems fun, I’d love to see your answers! 🙂

        1. Awesome! 🙂 I have a few books that I’m committed to, but I should be able to get through them pretty fast! I’ll message you, and we can come up with a timeline. So excited! 🙂

  1. In my opinion, The 100 is that rare case where the show is much, much better than the books. There are a lot of plot differences (even more than usual in an adaptation) so maybe the books were just less to my taste, but my mom, who has read/watched both, feels the same way. (I don’t think either of us decided to continue after the second book.)

This is a fun tag, I might have to pick it up!

    1. Interesting. My son has the same feelings. He loves the show, but wasn’t super impressed with the books.
I’d love to read your answers if you decide to do the tag. It’s a fun one! 🙂

  2. I haven’t read any of holly black books, but I really want to!! And I definitely recommend Six of Crows. It’s fantastic 🙂
