Top 10 Tuesday: Favorite Swoon-Worthy Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is Favorite Book Quote, which I found hard to narrow down, so I’m doing:

Favorite Swoon-Worthy Quotes from 10 Books

Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen

He moved so fast she barely registered a single step before he hauled her into his arms. Her feet left the ground…his kiss was gentle. It was giving, not taking. It cherished her. Treasure, he called her in his language, and she sensed the true meaning in his tight embrace. He would never let her go. Neither would she. “I have missed you,” he said softly. “Everyday.”

Here is strength…Here is integrity and compassion. Here is honesty, here are the smiles no one but she could coax from him. Leonel kept his expression unguarded, ignoring the anxious fear that whispered he showed too much. He let her see his admiration. He let his fingertips weave the truth into her skin.

Among the Beasts and Briars by Ashley Poston

And then, worst of all, he grinned. And oh, what a dangerous look that was, trouble tucked into the corners of his mouth like sin… And then his grin turned into a smile – and as strange as it was, it felt like, for the first time, I’d been found on the outside of the garden wall and asked to come inside.

She smiled at me – and it was bright and genuine, and I felt like I was falling even as I stood still.

Sting of Thorns by Kristen Brand

He felt her hand hesitantly touch his. He stilled, all other sensations fading into trivial nothingness before the soft pressure atop his glove. Then, as carefully as he would turn the pages in a thousand-year-old spell book, he moved his hand to clasp hers.

Dredarion’s gaze felt like a fire heating every inch of her body, and holy hell, she might have to talk about her feelings more often if it made him look at her like that.

He could recite odes to her for hours and still feel lacking.

The Elements of the Crown by Kay L. Moody

“Talise.”

Her name rolled out of his mouth as if he’d been holding onto it for several days. As if he’d considered it, treasured it, and now he was just trying it out, seeing how it felt out in the open.

It felt amazing.

She hated herself for feeling like that, but she did. She wanted to hear him say it again.

All Scot and Bothered by Kerrigan Byrne

Every time she smiled at him, with every kiss or intimacy they shared, a little light had ignited within that dark void inside him. He felt less empty. What would a lifetime of her smiles do?

A bruise on yer skin is like an open wound on my soul. It hurts me to look.

Fable by Adrienne Young

He held me. So tight. Like he was keeping me from unraveling. And he was. Because the kiss broke open some dark night sky within me filled with stars and moons and flaming comets. That darkness was replaced by the blazing fire of the sun racing under my skin.

He looked at me with a hundred stories lit behind his eyes.

Saint “loved my mother with the fury of a thousand merciless storms,” and Fable’s mother, “had loved Saint with a fire that could set fire to the sea.”

Her Accidental Highlander Husband by Allison B. Hanson

He swallowed and managed to nod, thinking he’d gladly give her his last morsel and waste away into dust if she asked it of him.

You are lovely. There’s not a one of us save the little ones who doesn’t near scars. Wear yours with honor, lass, for only a survivor is able to wear scars.

Taken to Nobu by Elizabeth Stephens

She beams up at me, all radiant light. She would make Voraxia’s suns jealous…I nod, mute, feeling every bit a boy. Feeling every bit a King.

A Healing Touch by Liz Arnold

“I will always be near you, no matter where you are,” Romney said in a whisper. “As long as the sun crosses the sky each day, you will never be without me.

Ghondatha by Emery Ayres

Anyone who fails to notice your absence doesn’t deserve your company.

He heard her heart pound and watched her turn rosy-cheeked with rage. So beautiful. So powerful. It was the rhythmic elixir in her veins that called him back to himself.

  1. Ooh, these quotes have me grinning big! My insides are *squeeing* because yes! All the swooning 😍 So I started reading the Xiveri Mates books and I read that quote last night and it was *sigh* so perfect! LOL great list 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! I debated between that quote and this one, which is from the first book in the Xiveri mates series:

“Raku…” she whispers and I’ll be damned to the universe’s lowest rung. The sound of my title on her tongue does things to me. I could sink cities for her, hearing her speak to me in such a way. “Please,” she begs and I shiver all over. Nox, not cities. Civilizations.

      Sa-woon!!!!
