Why Didn’t I Read That? SFF Books on My TBR That I NEED to Read

Hey there! Happy Saturday! I was going through my TBR the other day and noticed that I have quite a few popular SFF books to read. I’ve heard so many fantastic things about these books and am determined to read them in 2021.

With ARCs, blog tours, and other reading/reviewing commitments, some books had to wait. And now that I have a little break in my commitments, I want to read a few of these beauties!

I compiled a list of the top SFF books on my TBR that I have to read soon! I already have Daughter of the Pirate King, The Shadows Between Us, and From Blood and Ash, but I also have a gift card that I want to use to purchase books. Which ones will I buy? I have no idea! lol Which one would you pick up:

I read Aurora Rising and loved it, so I feel like I need to read Aurora Burning. However, a lot of people disliked the ending, and that makes me nervous. I had a chance to read an extended excerpt of Skyhunter and thought it was fantastic, so that’s pretty high on my list.

The mixed reviews of Midnight Sun make me hesitate. Do I need to revisit Twilight from Edward’s perspective? NO. Do I want to? Kind of? I mean, it’s Edward!

Legendborn sounds fantastic, and I requested it on Netgalley but didn’t get it. 🙁 And I love Levenseller and Armentrout, so I know I’ll enjoy their books.

The Priory of the Orange Tree and The House in the Cerulean Sea both sound amazing!! I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things about each of them. Which one should I read first? Idk.

Have you read any of these books? Which should I read first? Comment below. I’d love to chat! 🙂

  1. Read none of those. I get books in three different ways now- by buying the physical copy, buying for kindle, or borrowing from Libby to end up on the kindle. What I really want to buy belongs to the Nevermoor series- don’t own any of them

  2. Priory of the orange tree and Legendborn are both on my tbr list as well. I really need to read them. Great post

  3. I still really need to read Skyhunter & House on the Cerulean Sea (I’ve read so many positive reviews for this one). I can however, highly recommend Legendborn, Priory & Aurora Burning which are all amazing. You have some fun reading ahead of you ☺️

  4. I can see why a lot of people would dislike Aurora Burning’s ending … it’s a pretty big twist. BUT … I loved it! It sets up book #3 brilliantly!

  5. I don’t read a lot of SciFi, but I had seen so many great reviews and comments about House in the Cerulean Sea. I got the audiobook from my library yesterday, so I hope I enjoy it.

  6. The House in the Cerulean Sea would also be on my list! I really hope to read it soon!
Legendborn was my first read of this year, and it was so good!

  7. Midnight Sun was a fun read. I am listening to Klune’s book right now. I’m not far into it, but I’m loving it. I hope you get to read all of these soon.

  8. I’m currently listening to Aurora Burning on audio and enjoying it. I haven’t heard anything about the ending though so now you’ve got me worried. If it’s anything like the first book it’s gonna be a sob fest.

I’ve also read Midnight Sun (or at least most of it) and did like it. It’s maybe a little on the slow/long side but does give a lot more background and insight into Edwards family. Emmett was definitely the stand out character for me. I’m kind of hoping he gets his own book.

    1. I’m not sure what happens at the end of the book, but there’s some kind of surprise twist that received mixed reviews. I’ll be curious to read your thoughts.
And now you have me curious! Emmet was such an underdeveloped character in the original series, and I would like to learn more about all of the Cullen’s…
