About the Books:

Synopsis: Nestled along the bluffs of the forested coast lays the secret kingdom of the Omte—a realm filled with wonder…and as many secrets.

Ulla Tulin was left abandoned in an isolated Kanin city as a baby, taken in by strangers and raised hidden away like many of the trolls of mixed blood. Even knowing this truth, she’s never stopped wondering about her family.

When Ulla is offered an internship working alongside the handsome Pan Soriano at the Mimirin, a prestigious institution, she jumps at the chance to use this opportunity to hopefully find her parents. All she wants is to focus on her job and the search for her parents, but all of her attempts to find them are blocked when she learns her mother may be connected to the Omte royal family.

With little progress made, Ulla and Pan soon find themselves wrapped up in helping Eliana, an amnestic girl with abilities unlike any they have ever seen before—a girl who seems to be running from something. To figure out who she is they must leave the city, and possibly, along the way, they may learn more about Ulla’s parents.

Synopsis: When Ulla Tulin took her internship at the Mimirin, the only mystery she thought she’d have to solve was that of her birth parents. After a girl named Eliana gets kidnapped while in her care, Ulla knows she has to find out the truth of who Eliana really is—and the only way to do that means traveling to the Omte capital, the place she suspects her mother is from.

Ulla didn’t expect that when she arrived she would discover the identity of a Skojare man who crossed paths with her mother—a man who could very well be her father. When the head of the Mimirin learns Ulla’s father is connected to the Älvolk, a secret society who believes they were tasked with protecting the First City and the only ones who know its location, he sends Ulla and Pan to Sweden where they find him living among the Älvolk. But all is not what it seems with the Älvolk and their urgent quest to find the Lost Bridge to the First City leaves Ulla feeling uneasy—and possibly in danger.

SynopsisBuried memories…

Ulla Tulin has lost a month of her life. Her journey to learn who her parents are has brought her to the attention of the Älvolk sect―and a man claiming to be her father. But instead of a long lost family reunion, Ulla has forgotten her time there, and fears something terrible happened.

Sacred flower…

The Älvolk released Ulla alive for one reason only, to exchange her for a rare flower with mystical properties. Determined to break her amnesia, Ulla risks her life against a dark enchantment capable of killing her to remember the Älvolk’s secrets―to use the flower as part of an incantation that will open the bridge to Alfheim, the First City.

Blood prophecy…

But opening the bridge will unleash a menagerie of monstrous creatures upon Earth that will consume everything in their path. Knowing she may lose Pan Soriano, the love of her life, Ulla nevertheless gathers an army of Trylle to stand with her and defend humanity as well as her own kind. And it is Ulla’s very heritage that holds the key to victory.

Favorite Lines:

The Suns set in the green sky when the good morning becomes the violent night.

The Lost City

The good news is happiness and indignation don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can be angry about where we are and frustrated by how far we have left to go, and you can still appreciate the amount of ground that’s already been covered.

A foolish man thinks he knows all. A wise man knows he cannot.

It doesn’t matter what you meant. It only matters what you do. Intentions are the lies we tell ourselves. Actions are the truth.

The Morning Flower

It’s important to know where you come from to help find where you should go.

Put hopes in one hand and shit in the other, and see which one fills up first.

Fish and guests start to smell after three days.

I’d been led to believe a negative stereotype about the Omte, my tribe, myself. And now I had to wonder, how many other things had I learned about the Omte that weren’t true? About other tribes? About humans?

The Ever After

My love, you must remember – only together can we slay the monsters that chase us.

For the first time, I wondered if all of this was worth it. If maybe it would be better to give up my hunt for the past so I could actually have a present.

You’re going through something, and no doubt the journey is treacherous at times. But you must remember that you are not alone, and you still get to decide where this journey ends.

    1. You definitely don’t need to read the other books in the Trylle series to read this one, though a bunch of the characters do make appearances throughout the trilogy. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it! 🙂
