Blog Tour Review: The Dog Sitter by Zara Stoneley

Thanks for stopping by! I’m delighted to be part of the blog tour for Zara Stonley’s new book The Dog Sitter, a fun contemporary romance with great characters and a delightful pooch!

About the Book:

The Dog Sitter

One dog. Two strangers. An unfurgettable romance.

Wanted: someone nice, normal and trustworthy to housesit a beautiful cottage in the Lake District while the owner is away on a business trip. Must like dogs.

Wanting to escape from crap bosses and useless boyfriends, Becky jumps at the chance of being a dog sitter and the perfect escape – rest, relaxation and a very cute pooch called Bella.

But looking after Bella comes with a catch, namely gorgeous, brooding, Chris Hemsworth-worthy Ash James, who claims Bella is his dog and will stop at nothing to get her back!

Becky’s not about to hand over lovely Bella to any Tom, Dick or Ash.  She’s determined to watch every move Ash James makes…even if it gets her very hot under the collar.

About the Author:

Zara Stoneley is the USA Today bestselling author of The Wedding Date.

Born in a small village in the UK, she wanted to be a female James Herriot, a spy, or an author when she grew up. After many (many) years, and many different jobs, her dream of writing a bestseller came true.

She writes about friendship, dreams, love, and happy ever afters, and hopes that her tales make you laugh a lot, cry a little, and occasionally say ‘ahhh’.

Zara now lives in a Cheshire village with her family, a lively cockapoo called Harry, and a very bossy (and slightly evil) cat called Saffron.

Zara’s bestselling novels include ‘The First Date’, ‘Bridesmaids’, ‘No One Cancels Christmas’, ‘The Wedding Date’, ‘The Holiday Swap’, ‘Summer with the Country Village Vet’, ‘Blackberry Picking at Jasmine Cottage’ and the popular Tippermere series – ‘Stable Mates’, ‘Country Affairs’ and ‘Country Rivals’.

My Review:

A fun and quick read about following your heart, believing in love, and being true to who you are The Dog Sitter follows Becky, a funny and smart woman who is floundering a bit. After a shocking break-up and job loss, Becky needs to reevaluate her goals and desires. She’s also looking for a little inspiration. So, she takes a job as a house and dog sitter at a remote home in the beautiful Lake District where she can focus on herself. Little does she know, her new job isn’t as relaxing as it seems, and Becky finds herself caught between two exes bickering over dog ownership.

Becky is a wonderful protagonist. She has a great sense of humor, and I love her quick wit. Her thoughts when exercising are hilarious (and realistic), and even though her life isn’t where she wants it to be, she still has a positive outlook. Throughout the book, she takes charge of her life, reignites her creativity, and begins to realize her true potential. Becky is creative, smart, and relatable, and I love that she takes the steps to regain her confidence and sense of self.

The romance is fantastic, and Ash sounds like a total hunk! I love Becky’s thoughts when she first meets him and the comical way she handles herself when around him. They meet under uncomfortable and awkward circumstances, but their relationship grows into a wonderful romance. The more Becky and Ash get to know and understand each other, the stronger their bond becomes. I love their chemistry, and how cute Ash is with the adorable Bella.

This review wouldn’t be complete without discussing Bella, the cute and spunky whirlwind of a dog that Becky is taking care of. Bella is so charming and adorable; it’s no wonder she’s an Instagram hit! I adore this rambunctious pup and love the levity and positivity she brought to Becky’s life. Bella is just the distraction Becky needs, and the constant dog disasters and mishaps are hilarious!

I enjoyed this charming and entertaining story, and it was the perfect read to pass the weekend! If you’re in the mood for a cute and light rom-com with charming characters, a beautiful setting, and an adorable dog, then this is the book for you. Thanks so much to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Rating:

Favorite Parts:

  • Bella. She’s a spunky little ball of charm.

Recommendations:

This is a great story for readers who like light and fun contemporary romance or rom-coms.

  1. This actually sounds like a really cute read. I’m all for books with dogs. 😉 I might just check this out, even though my tbr IS actually far to high to pile any more books on top…

  2. I love the cover and your review is wonderful. I would love to fit this one in before the end of the month as this is my romance theme month. It sounds like so much fun.
