The Quick Fire Fantasy Book Tag

I saw this on Kyla’s Library and thought it sounded fun. The tag was created by The Bookworm Dreamer. I read a lot of fantasy and romance, and I especially love romantasy. (Is that a thing? I think it’s a thing.) I just finished The Princess Will Save You – that’s a great romantasy with epic Princess Bride vibes. So good!

1. 5 Star Book: Gilded Serpent by Danielle L. Jensen

Gilded Serpent by Danielle L. Jensen is one of my most recent 5 star reads. I love this series, and Gilded Serpent is my favorite. There’s so much action, suspense, intrigue, and the romances are EVERYTHING! Check out this swoon-tasticness:

“If the story of your life were a book, I’d carry it with me across the world. I’d read it every night. And whenever I reached the ending of what had been shared with me, I’d open it to the first page and begin reading again.”

Teriana’s eyes burned and she blinked rapidly. “It would be a very heavy book. I’ve had a very interesting life.”

“It would be worth it.” He crossed back, hands curving around the sides of her face as he bent to kiss her forehead. “Everything you tell me is a gift.”

2. Always Going to Recommend: Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen

I feel like I recommend and talk about this book all of the time. I love the mythology and the characters, and the love story is beautiful!! Check out this gorgeous quote:

Here is strength…Here is integrity and compassion. Here is honesty, here are the smiles no one but she could coax from him. Leonel kept his expression unguarded, ignoring the anxious fear that whispered he showed too much. He let her see his admiration. He let his fingertips weave the truth into her skin.”

3. Own It But Haven’t Read It Yet: Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

I have it. It’s sitting on my shelf, staring at me. I know I’ll love it. I mean, it’s a story about pirates. I love a good high seas adventure. I definitely want to read it. I just never seem to get to it.

Check out this empowering quote from the book:

“I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want.

4. Would Read Again: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I read this last year and loved it. The characters, the action, the heist, the immersive world-building, the fabulous writing – I basically loved everything about it. This is a book I could see myself reading countless times.

BTW – I love the Netflix show, and the casting is phenomenal. The Crows are exactly as I imagined them.

Here’s a favorite quote:

She laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and gotten drunk on it every night, he would have. It terrified him.

5. In Another World: Sisters of Shadow and Light by Sara B. Larson

The sisters in this story have been trapped in a citadel which is surrounded by a magical hedge that does not allow them to leave. The citadel was once home to magical warriors.

I loved this duology and all of the magical elements. The sisterly bond was also fantastic and one of my favorite parts of the story.

I love Sara B. Larson’s writing and will basically read anything she writes. 🙂 Here’s one of my favorite quotes:

“As long as you’re breathing there is always hope.”

6. Back On Earth: Ember of Night by Molly E. Lee

I read Ember of Night for a blog tour recently and really enjoyed it. It’s such a unique and action-packed urban fantasy, and I loved the main character!

This is another story with a lovely sisterly bond, though in this book the sisters have a much larger age difference. There’s also a pretty awesome love story and some great twists. And the ending!! I can’t even!

Here’s a favorite quote from the story:

Just because something is damaged doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful. All things have value.

And that’s it! Have you read any of these books? Did you enjoy them? I’m not tagging anyone for this tag today, but if it sounds like fun, I’d love to see your choices!

    Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. Love everything Danielle L. Jensen writes! I loved Sisters of Shadow and Light also. I loved the Daughter of the Pirate King and I don’t usually like pirate/high seas adventure type stories. The rest I haven’t read but Ember of Night looks good!

  3. I still need to read Beneath Cruel Fathoms, haha. I will get to it one day!
