Isn’t this picture from Wednesday Books gorgeous? I adore these stunning covers, and when you put them together – absolute perfection!!!

Fable was one of my favorite reads of 2020, and it completely entranced me. I love Adrienne Young’s writing, which sounds almost poetic at times. Beautiful imagery and powerful lines captivated me throughout both books. I actually enjoyed Fable so much that I bought Young’s other books as soon as I finished the story. If you like YA fiction with amazing characters, writing, and world-building, as well as a well layered plot, then you should totally check out the Fable Duology! Plus, there are pirates! And romance! And a high seas adventure!!

Synopsis: As the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows, the sea is the only home seventeen-year-old Fable has ever known. It’s been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. The next day her father abandoned her on a legendary island filled with thieves and little food. To survive she must keep to herself, learn to trust no one and rely on the unique skills her mother taught her. The only thing that keeps her going is the goal of getting off the island, finding her father and demanding her rightful place beside him and his crew. To do so Fable enlists the help of a young trader named West to get her off the island and across the Narrows to her father.

But her father’s rivalries and the dangers of his trading enterprise have only multiplied since she last saw him and Fable soon finds that West isn’t who he seems. Together, they will have to survive more than the treacherous storms that haunt the Narrows if they’re going to stay alive.

Welcome to a world made dangerous by the sea and by those who wish to profit from it. Where a young girl must find her place and her family while trying to survive in a world built for men.

And have you heard about Adrienne Young’s upcoming novel The Last Legacy? I’m really excited for this one! It’s a standalone in the Fable universe, and it sounds amazing!! Check out the synopsis:

When a letter from her uncle Henrick arrives on Bryn Roth’s eighteenth birthday, summoning her back to Bastian, Bryn is eager to prove herself and finally take her place in her long-lost family.

Henrik has plans for Bryn, but she must win everyone’s trust if she wants to hold any power in the delicate architecture of the family. It doesn’t take long for her to see that the Roths are entangled in shadows. Despite their growing influence in upscale Bastian, their hands are still in the kind of dirty business that got Bryn’s parents killed years ago. With a forbidden romance to contend with and dangerous work ahead, the cost of being accepted into the Roths may be more than Bryn can pay.

I can’t wait to read it!! It’s scheduled for release on September 7th, so it’s only a few more months! So, while we’re waiting for The Last Legacy, let’s check out some amazing quotes from Fable and Namesake. Here are some of my favorites:

Favorite Lines from the Fable Duology

About Life:

And like the turn of the wind before the most unpredictable of storms, I could feel that everything was about to change.

Fable

It was one long series of tragically beautiful knots that bound us together.

Namesake

I had found a family in West, and I’d learned enough from all that had happened to know that I would trade anything in the world for it.

Namesake

I’d been a fool. I’d let myself believe, even if it was just for a moment, that I was safe. That I’d find a home and a family. And in the time it took to draw a single breath, it was all torn away.

Namesake

What he was saying-the things he told me-was his way of showing me he trusted me. It was also his way of giving me the match. If I wanted to, I could burn him down. But if we were going to do this, I would have to be his safe harbor and he would have to be mine.

Fable

About Loss:

No matter where I went, I’d never get home. Because home was a ship that was at the bottom of the sea, where my mother’s bones lay sleeping in the deep.

Fable

I loved her with a love that broke me.

Fable

He was the only one who loved her more than I had. And the pain of losing her was fresh and sharp, knife-edged between us.

Namesake

Isolde was the wind and sea and sky of Saint’s world. She was the pattern of stars that he navigated by, the sum of all directions on his compass. And he was lost without her.

Fable

About Love:

He held me. So tight. Like he was keeping me from unraveling. And he was. Because the kiss broke open some dark night sky within me filled with stars and moons and flaming comets. That darkness was replaced by the blazing fire of the sun racing under my skin.

Fable

He looked at me with a hundred stories lit behind his eyes.

Fable

My mother had loved Saint with a love that could set fire to the sea.

Fable

I’d loved him with the same fire that I’d hated him.

Namesake

The most fragile hope I’d ever held was that somewhere in the flesh and bone of him, that my father had loved me. There was a part of me that was terrified to find out if it was true. And an even bigger part that knew it would destroy me.

Namesake

Saint was a bastard, but he was mine. He belonged to me. And even more unbelievable, I really did love him.

Namesake
