Blog Tour Review: Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson

I’m delighted to be part of the blog tour for Teri Wilson’s new book Once Upon a Royal Summer. This is a charming contemporary romance that I really enjoyed!! Let’s check it out

About the Book:

A theme park “princess” meets a single dad…who turns out to be a real prince!
Enjoy the delightful royal romance from acclaimed author Teri Wilson and Hallmark Publishing.

Lacey found her dream job: playing a princess character at a popular fairytale theme park in sunny southern Florida. Her diamond tiara might not be real, but the smiles of the children she meets every day certainly are. It’s just too bad that her ex-boyfriend was never impressed with her career choice.

Henry, the crown prince of Bella-Moritz, is trying to fulfill his young daughter’s birthday wish: to be a normal girl with a normal life. That’s why they’re pretending to be ordinary tourists at an American amusement park. Henry lost his wife four years ago, and he’s been going through the motions ever since. But could a meeting with a make-believe princess lead to real love?

This enchanting romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe.

My Review:

A cute story with a sweet romance, Once Upon a Royal Summer follows a theme park princess as she falls in love with a real prince. Lacey is everything you would expect of a fairy tale princess. She is kind and caring, thoughtful and charming. She has such a tender heart and is so wonderful with children. And her name is Princess Sweet Pea – super cute! Her job is important to her, and it brings her a lot of joy. I love that Henry sees past the superficial and recognizes Lacey’s generous and compassionate spirit. Lacey’s sincerity and helpfulness shine through, and her kindness is exemplified throughout the story.

Henry is a loving father who wants what is best for his daughter. He is charming and honorable, and his love for his daughter is very sweet. He is also dedicated to his country and his people, and is determined to be a good ruler. With his intellect, kindness, good looks, and charm, he is everything Lacey wants in a partner. Plus, he’s a prince! And I love Henry’s daughter Rose! She’s so adorable and eager, and her optimism and enthusiasm in visiting a theme park for the first time is infectious. Just ask Henry’s bodyguard who escorts them throughout their stay. I think he enjoys the rides and sites as much as Rose, which is super endearing.

Rose and Lacey develop a lovely bond. They have such fun together while in the theme park, and their vacations truly seemed magical. I love how easily Henry, Lacey, and Rose fit together. Other characters, like Henry’s bodyguard, Lacey’s best friend, and Henry’s mother are also interesting characters and I enjoyed their roles in the story. Lacey’s friend brings some extra levity to the story, while Henry’s mother adds a bit of reality to their lives and situations. They are interesting dynamics that work well when put together.

The fairy tale theme park setting and all of the special moments that come with it adds a whimsical, optimistic, and magical feel to the story as does Henry’s home which is celebrating their annual flower festival. Bella-Moritz sounds like an enchanting country, and I can see why Lacey fell in love with it (and Henry) so quickly. The author does a great job of creating a vivid picture of both places.

Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the romance. It’s as lovely as the rest of the story. Lacey and Henry have an almost instant attraction to one another, but they are from such different world both literally and figuratively. However, as they get to know each other, they begin to see that they are quite alike. In short, their romance is a fairy tale.

I enjoyed Once Upon a Royal Summer. It is a sweet and light read with many charming elements, and it brought a smile to my face more than once. This is definitely a book that I could see easily transition to a Hallmark movie. I think readers who like contemporary romance with likeable characters, a sweet love story, and a happily ever after will enjoy this book.
