Sundays in Bed With: A Forgery of Roses by Jessica S. Olson

Happy Sunday! I’m back today with “Sundays in Bed With….” a meme dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!  The meme is hosted by Midnight Book Girl.

Today, I’m finishing up A Forgery of Roses by Jessica S. Olsen. This is such an immersive YA fantasy, and I’m really intrigued by the unique magic system in the story. There’s also a lot of mystery and danger, and there’s a potential romance that I’m equally suspicious of and rooting for. The story has more twists and turns than a roller coaster, and I’m loving it! And the anxiety rep. is fantastic too.

But one frigid night, the governor’s wife discovers the truth and threatens to expose Myra if she does not complete a special portrait that would resurrect the governor’s dead son. Desperate, Myra ventures to his legendary stone mansion.

Once she arrives, however, it becomes clear the boy’s death was no accident. Someone dangerous lurks within these glittering halls. Someone harboring a disturbing obsession with portrait magic.

Myra cannot do the painting until she knows what really happened, so she turns to the governor’s older son, a captivating redheaded poet. Together, they delve into the family’s most shadowed affairs, racing to uncover the truth before the secret Myra spent her life concealing makes her the killer’s next victim.
