At a chilly 31 degrees here in Rhode Island, I thought it was a great day to do the Baby It’s Cold Outside tag! I was tagged by Mani at Mani’s Book Corner, and it looks like a lot of fun! If you haven’t been over to Mani’s blog, you should totally check it out. Mani always has fantastic reviews and bookish posts to read.

Questions:

Snow Angels – What’s a book that you love so much you would want to be buried with it?

How do I pick just one? I’ll narrow it down to three of my all-time faves. I love the romance, found family, and characters in A Court of Mist and Fury, and Rhysand is my book boyfriend. ACOMAF is one of my go-to reads when I’m in a slump or if I just want to read a book for fun. The Song of Achilles is a beautifully written book, and I love the fresh retelling of Achilles and the Trojan War. Plus, the romance – absolutely gorgeous. Les Miserables is one of the most emotional and powerful books I’ve ever read. I have several Les Mis related tattoos, I’ve read the book, seen the play and all of the film adaptations, and even named my blog after a song from the musical!

Warm Socks – What’s a book that makes you feel warm inside?

I adored Under the Whispering Door and actually hugged the book when I finished. It’s such a fantastic read, and I fell in love with the characters and story.

I’ve heard The House in the Cerulean Sea is like a warm hug, and that’s how I felt with this book too. It made me a T.J. Klune fan for life.

Hot Cocoa – What winter-themed novels have you previously read?

I’ve been enjoying holiday romances this year and have read over a dozen. lol These are my most recent reads that were 4 stars and above. My favorite is The Christmas Village.

Sledding – What’s a book with the best plot twists? Who’s an author that always keeps you on your toes? 

I can remember reading Rebecca for the first time and being absolutely stunned by the twist. It was a gasp-out-loud moment for me, and I loved the book so much I bought 27 more copies so I could read it with my students. lol

I’ve read several of Daphne du Maurier’s novels and short stories, and she is definitely an author that keeps me on my toes.

Ugly Sweaters – What’s a book with the ugliest cover?

I used to teach Romeo and Juliet to at least two classes every year for seventeen years. As much as I enjoy the play, after reading it over thirty times, I came to really dislike the cover. I don’t like the colors or font, and I don’t think it relates to the play at all. However, I might be a little biased because I had to look at it so much.

Snow Day – What’s your “comfort” book?

For me, it usually depends on my mood. If I’m looking for more romance/fantasy, A Court of Mist and Fury. It’s my favorite SJM book. And this might sounds weird, but my other go-to comfort read is The Hunger Games. If I’m looking for a YA comfort read, I always pick this one up. I’ve read it so many times, and it never gets old for me.

Movie Marathon – What’s the last book you binge read?

I am OBSESSED with The Bridge Kingdom and stayed up entirely too late last night to read it. Dini at DiniPanda Reads and I are buddy reading it, and I have thoughts!!!  

Letter to Santa – What’s a book that’s on your wish list this year?

I have so many books on my wish list, but here are the four at the top of my list. I sent my Amazon Wish List to the hubs a few weeks ago, so fingers crossed!!

Les Misérables- that might be my answer to being buried with; seen the musical six times (apart from the film and concerts); and of course the musical film (to note, wore out my 1st copy that I had to buy a 2nd) and concerts (own two of them); and even read the book which wasn’t intimidating due to my knowledge of the musical

    Well- only read one TJ Klune book- we read the complete opposite; meaning I read House in the Cerulean Sea, the only one of his I read so far

    Christmasy Books Recently- only belonged to Man Who Invented Christmas and A Christmas Carol

  4. The Song of Achilles is definitely one of my forever favourites too 🥰 I’m so glad we’re reading TBK together so I have someone to freak out with while reading! I can’t wait to start book two—let’s gooo! Haha! I hope Santa is nice and gets you The Love Hypothesis this year, it’s officially one of my favourite romances! 😍

  9. Great answers Julie. I’m not sure what I would answer for most of these, but for Sledding it would be anything by Alice Feeney. Her plot twists always have my jaw dropping.
