My Review:

I’ve been looking forward to reading Valued by the Viscount since I learned it was Reed’s story. Reed was a secondary character in several of the other books in the series, and he always felt a little like a lost soul. I wanted to learn more about this reformed rake searching for a wife, and I wasn’t disappointed. Reed is a compelling character with an interesting story, and his romance with Vanessa is wonderful.

Vanessa is a widow who had a much older, abusive husband and a brother who was just as bad. Content to live the rest of her life alone and at peace, Vanessa is devastated when her stepson throws her out almost penniless. But when she is befriended by a lovely countess, Vanessa is welcomed into the fold of a wonderful and supportive group. With their help and an upcoming house party, Vanessa meets Reed. Vanessa changes a lot over the course of the story as she regains her confidence, makes new and strong friendships, and learns to trust again. Her story is heartbreaking, and I really hoped that she would find her well-deserved happiness.

Vanessa and Reed have an instant connection, and I love how quickly and deeply Reed falls for her. If you believe in love at first sight, you’ll definitely enjoy this romance!! The way Reed treated Vanessa actually made me like him even more than I already did. He could tell Vanessa was slower to trust and give into her feelings, yet he remained patient and never made her feel pressured, mistreated, or less than. This is the opposite of how men have treated her in the past, and it’s a big change for the distrustful Vanessa. The way Reed tries to bolster her confidence and self-esteem makes him even more endearing, and I totally get why Vanessa fell so hard for him. They have a great love story, and their chemistry is swoon-worthy!

I love the Second Sons and the Three Cousins! These couples defy the norms of the ton and are quite demonstrative with their feelings for each other. They are more like family, and their fun banter is as remarkable as their unequivocal support of each other. Messages in the story about the importance and benefits of marriage and family are strong. And I love that the protagonists from the other books have big roles in this book. They’re all so fantastic, and I love that we get to see how their lives and relationships have grown and changed. I especially love seeing all of the new additions to the families!

The Second Sons of London is a wonderful historical romance series, and Valued by the Viscount is no exception. It’s a great addition to the series! Thanks to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book. all thoughts are my own.
