Blog Tour Book Review: Sold to the Demon Prince by Lauren Crowne

About the Book:

Title: Sold to the Demon Prince

Author: Laurne Crowne

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Release Date: November 1, 2022

Synopsis: The demon prince is arrogant, dangerous, and hot as sin.

He is also my new owner.

As a fae slave, I knew that one day I’d be sold at auction, but I never expected to be purchased by royalty, much less by the demon prince himself.

Rumors say that Prince Leo is a cruel master who murders his fae when they no longer entertain him. They say he’s just like every other species that harvest the magic in our fae blood.

But I know the truth.

There’s more to the demon prince than what the world sees. He has plans, big plans, and if I agree to help him, it could mean freedom for me and every other enslaved fae.

When the day comes that I’m given the chance for freedom, will I take it, even it means leaving Prince Leo forever? Or can I admit that the demon prince who owned my body might own my heart as well?

All books in the Sins of the Blood War series contain spicy tension, deliciously steamy scenes, characters who talk (and curse) like adults, and occasional moments of violence. Leo’s a prince who can do whatever he wants, after all, and in this book, what he wants is her.

My Review:

Sold to the Demon Prince is a steamy paranormal romance and the first in the Sins of the Blood War series. The supernatural world is vivid and immersive and has dark undertones that drive the story. A world where fae are enslaved, and their powers are controlled, demons, humans, and other supernatural species use fae blood for its magical properties.

Vera is a slave who is sold at an auction to Leo, the demon prince with a reputation for being a cruel and ruthless owner who kills his slaves when he tires of them. But Vera learns there’s much more to Leo than meets the eye, and she finds herself conflicted between her desire to be free and her feelings to remain with him to help him with his important scientific goals. Throughout the story, Leo and Vera also become targets of an unknown antagonist, and it’s unclear if they are being targeted because of Leo’s power or experiments or because Vera seems to have more power than initially thought. It’s mysterious and suspenseful, as the pair fights to stay a step ahead of their enemy.

Vera is an interesting and layered character, and she goes through so much over the course of the story. A slave with an uncertain future, Vera never gives up hope or her survival instinct. She’s feisty and fiery, and she is pretty outspoken, sometimes during situations where her voice could get her in trouble. And Leo is the perfect bad boy with a heart of gold. Leo is working to create a drug that has the same effect as fae blood, and he’s more invested in the rights of the fae than he lets on. He’s an intriguing character who lives a double life, and it’s interesting to see him move between the two. A gorgeous, brooding, intelligent, and charismatic demon with a sensitive and caring side? Yes, please!

The enemies-to-lovers romance between Vera and Leo is fantastic. Oh my gosh, these two fight their feelings so hard! I loved it. They try to resist each other and they refuse to give voice to their growing feelings, but they are so drawn to each other. Whether fighting or training or sparring, their banter is on point, and their chemistry is fantastic. There’s a lot of push and pull between them as they fight their feelings and sometimes give in to them, which makes for a ton of sexual tension and some steamy love scenes.

I’m curious about some of the secondary characters in the story, especially those closest to Leo. He has some great friendships, and I loved the banter between them. I have a feeling friendships and relationships will be further explored and challenged in the next book. I can’t wait to read it! It sounds like Vera and Leo are about to begin an epic and super dangerous journey, and I’m eager to find out what happens.

I would definitely recommend Sold to the Demon Prince to readers who enjoy steamy paranormal romance or romantasy with intriguing characters and a slow-building plot. It’s a great start to the series! Special thanks to Inkslinger PR for providing me with a copy of the book and for having me on the tour. All thoughts are my own.
