Another Book, Another Destiny…
Avalon Tower is such a great start to the Fey Academy for Spies series! I really enjoyed it, especially the Gothic academy setting and the whole Arthurian legend influence. The story follows Nia, who thinks she’s going to spend her vacation in France reading books and drinking champagne, but instead she gets kidnapped by a … Continue reading Book Review: Avalon Tower by C.N. We were all fate’s own folly. This is such a powerful and thought provoking story and series that explores some of the lesser known characters in Greek mythology. It’s a fascinating look at Styx and what led to her permanent residence in the underworld. The story serves as almost a prequel to Hekate's story, which … Continue reading Book Review: Styx – The River by Nikita Gill

Wow. What a powerful and thought-provoking read! I’m so thankful to Berkley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. I love mythological retellings, but I haven’t read any that focus on Aphrodite, so I was really intrigued by this one. Reading well-known mythological stories from her perspective changed my perspective … Continue reading Book Review: Aphrodite in Pieces by Lauren J.A. Bear
I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought it was a really unique premise and world, and the whole concept of people in the modern world making bargains with faeries was so interesting. I was also intrigued by Poppy's story, especially as she had to return to the land of the Fae after being … Continue reading Book Review: The Tricky Business of Faerie Bargains by Reena McCarty
The Faerie Morgana is a rich and immersive story and a unique retelling that puts a fresh spin on the Arthurian legend while still capturing the magical essence of the original tales. I'm so glad I buddy read this with Leslie at Books Are the New Black because we had some great chats about the … Continue reading Book Review: The Faerie Morgana by Louisa Morgan
Hekate is an engrossing read that brings the goddess of witchcraft and necromancy to life in a way I’ve never seen before. The story follows Hekate from her childhood, fleeing to the Underworld during a war between the gods, to her rise as a feared goddess. Hekate is told primarily in verse form, which gives … Continue reading Book Review: Hekate by Nikita Gill
I enjoy stories and films that revolve around Arthurian legends and was excited to read The Chosen Queen, which is told from Igraine’s perspective. Arthur's mother is not usually a well-defined character, and she is often glossed over in Arthurian tales, so I appreciated the focus on her story for a change. The premise of exploring … Continue reading Book Review: The Chosen Queen by Sam Davey
