Synopsis: Britannia meets The Mist ―with a touch of Evil Dead ―in this illusory fantasy horror about a kingdom left to darkness…

Jude Maddox knows nothing of love or even light. He knows only his grim duty as the Hand of Death, to lead the Knights of the Eternal Star into a land filled with nightmares and certain demise. It’s only when he sees her ―a young woman with wild, amber eyes who’s as fierce, defiant, and swift as the shadow beasts themselves―that he feels the warmth of life in his blood…

The other Knights may fear their lethal commander, with his hard, merciless demeanor. Outcast Kiara Frey sees only a leader, a man who knows how to survive. A man like her . But wanting him is as treacherous as the shadows themselves…and just as seductive.

With a kingdom on the verge of collapse, the Knights must now venture into the darkest heart of the land and uncover the secrets of the misted shadows, where evil will prey upon their minds and feast on their flesh.

It will betray their senses.
It will surpass their nightmares.
Most of them will die.

But they have no other choice. Because the only way to fight the darkness… is to become it .

Here are the top quotes from Starling House:

When wishes turn into reality, they never leave you feeling how you pictured.

Wounds healed, but lost honor wasn’t as easily mended.

Fate might have brought me here, but from now on, I would be the one to choose my destiny.

I’d killed and tortured men, had their blood paint my face and hands. I could ignore their desperate begging, turn off my emotions as they screamed for the pain to end. For me to end it. But one spirited girl could send me to my knees.

I need you to always fight, even when they tell you that you’ve already lost. If you don’t, then none of us stand a chance.”

Regret was the harshest of punishments.

Sometimes we have to give away pieces of ourselves to others we love, even if it hurts at the time. Without sacrificing those parts, nothing new—and possibly wonderful—could grow in their stead.

Love was nothing if not sacrifice, and for him, I’d willingly give all of myself.

He’d disarmed me with a single stare. And here I’d thought only weapons and fists could destroy me.

I coveted a love so profound, so realm-shattering, that my home became their arms and the music in my ears belonged to the beating of their hearts.

“Courage is unlocking the door to your cage and taking flight. True bravery is burning the cage to the ground.”

“You are what I imagine the sun to be like,” I whispered so softly I wasn’t sure she could hear the admission. “Fiery. Beautiful. Damning.”

“I couldn’t describe it to someone, should they ask, but that didn’t matter. I felt it. How our beating hearts could speak to each other in a language only we seemed to know.”

“All of our jagged pieces might not have fit together perfectly, but what a beautiful, disastrous mosaic we made.”

“You are the only light I will vow to protect.”

  1. First, the cover and character art pieces are gorgeous! Second, this sounds like a great read; adding to my tbr. Third, all of these quotes are so good! I really like these two quotes,

“Sometimes we have to give away pieces of ourselves to others we love, even if it hurts at the time. Without sacrificing those parts, nothing new—and possibly wonderful—could grow in their stead.”

“I coveted a love so profound, so realm-shattering, that my home became their arms and the music in my ears belonged to the beating of their hearts.”

  2. Your blog is a testament to your passion for your subject matter. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s clear that you put your heart and soul into every post. Keep up the fantastic work!

  3. I loved the character art so I tried to find the artist, but based on having six fingers (maybe she does I just started?) And some of the weird hair lumps in image 2, and how exactly similar 2 and 3 are, they seem to be AI generated. I do have to ask- are you finding these and didnt notice or generating them yourself?
