Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today, the topic is Books With a High Page Count. I went through my bookshelves and found 10 books with 800 or more pages. These are some chonky books! Let’s check them out!
1. Les Miserables – 1463 Pages

Victor Hugo’s tale of injustice, heroism and love follows the fortunes of Jean Valjean, an escaped convict determined to put his criminal past behind him.
But his attempts to become a respected member of the community are constantly put under threat: by his own conscience, when, owing to a case of mistaken identity, another man is arrested in his place; and by the relentless investigations of the dogged Inspector Javert.
It is not simply for himself that Valjean must stay free, however, for he has sworn to protect the baby daughter of Fantine, driven to prostitution by poverty.
2. Kingdom of Ash – 984 Pages

Aelin Galathynius has vowed to save her people ― but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. The knowledge that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, but her resolve is unraveling with each passing day…
With Aelin captured, friends and allies are scattered to different fates. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever. As destinies weave together at last, all must fight if Erilea is to have any hope of salvation.
Years in the making, Sarah J. Maas’s New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series draws to an explosive conclusion as Aelin fights to save herself―and the promise of a better world.

Great picks! I had Priory on my list today as well. I’m kind of surprised that I missed Outlander though because I swear that book is still on my TBR 😂
Thanks, Dini! I’ve seen Priory on a few lists today. It’s definitely a chonker!
I’m slowly working my way toward KINGDOM OF ASH. On HEIR OF FIRE right now!
Nice!!! Are you loving it?
Def enjoying it! Don’t know yet if I’ll like it more than CC…we’ll see!
I think SJM books are probably the longest I’ve read – although I did do Outlander and the first several Game of Thrones as well. 🙂
Those are all lengthy reads!
Long books are ones I don’t mind reading- everyone has a different definition of how many pages they start at.
Some of the long books I read: seems to be mostly classics
1. Les Misérables
2. Nicholas Nickleby
3. Don Quixote
4. Part of the Harry Potter series- always forget which ones
5. Bleak House
6. The Illiad/The Odyssey
Seems to be hard to think of others at the current moment right now
I’ve noticed a lot of classics and fantasy on people’s lists today!
Wouldn’t be surprised
Great picks! One day I will tackle Les Miz… when I’m brave enough haha.
Thank you!Les Mis is definitely a time commitment. lol
These are definitely chunky reads!
Those SJM books are chunky! Looks like everyone has Kingdom of Ash and Priory on their lists!
Yes, I’ve seen both on several lists today. lol
Actually I could have filled my entire list with books by SJM LOL! I decided against it and left them out completely. Although I loved them! The other 2 I’ve read were a DNF: Priory and To Sleep In a Sea of Stars.

lol – She has so many books that fit this category. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the other two. I’ve heard mixed things about both.
The Crescent City books are sooo big. Still love them though!! haha. I forgot to have Priory on my list.
Yes!! A lot of her books are super long! But I’m obsessed with them all. lol
I’ve seen a lot of fantasy books on lists this week. I haven’t read any of these, but have had Outlander on my TBR shelf for a long time.
Yes, I noticed a lot of fantasy books too. I checked out your list. You have some good ones!
I loved Priory and A Day of Fallen Night. I’ve just read the next prequel and couldn’t believe how short it was!
Les Miserables for the win! 🙂 I think it’s probably the longest book I ever read. I love the Outlander series, and it’s been fun seeing it on so many lists this week!
Great selection! I’ve been meaning to read The Priory of the Orange Tree, but its size is too intimidating.
I have had a brand new copy of Priory sitting unread on my bookshelves for so long that I’d be embarrassed if it wasn’t a totally intimidating chonk. I love SJM, and I *am* mortified to admit that I preordered House of Flame and Shadow. In my defense, I have a lot of competition for my time and can barely manage staying functional while becoming responsible for my mom – how do you parents do it?
I love a chunky fantasy book but I’ve somehow only gotten to two of these so far – Priory & Kingdom Of Ash. I do want to try the Crescent City books sometime but after I had mixed feelings about the ACOTAR series I’ve been nervous 🙈 although I did adore each and every Throne Of Glass book.
