Hi there! It’s time for another Spell the Month in Books. This was originally created by Reviews from the Stacks, and the idea is to spell the month using the first letter of book titles. This month, I’m spotlighting four upcoming releases on my radar. Let’s check them out!
J: Just the Good Parts

Caspen Coolsby’s dad is missing. But even though it’s only been a few months, everyone has given up on finding him. Except for Caspen.
He finally gets a break in the case when he meets his new upstairs neighbors and discovers he can somehow transport himself into each of the college students’ memories using candle scents that remind them of important moments. No one loved candles more than his dad, so Caspen is sure there must be clues pointing toward where to find him hidden in the memories.
His thinking hits a snag, though, when a handsome boy named Lars keeps popping up in memories where he also doesn’t belong. As the lines between memory and reality begin to blur, Caspen can’t help but fall for the mysterious boy who keeps chipping away at the rose-colored lens he’s always seen life through. But will Caspen be able to find his dad and his crush outside of these stolen moments if it means reliving the hard truths of his past and not just the good parts?

U: Unbound

Welcome to Confluence Academy…
Nineteen-year-old Nessa Thorne expects death when she volunteers for the Empire’s selection. Instead, she’s thrust into Confluence Academy, where students harness elemental magic and bond powerful beasts, from wolves to ancient dragons.
Students are branded by water, air, earth, or fire. But Nessa’s mark is different. A silver spiral – the mark of an unbound. It’s a power so dangerous her kind were hunted to extinction centuries ago – or so the Empire claims.
To survive, she must hide what she is in a castle where alliances are forged in blood and students kill each other freely for advantage. Nessa’s greatest threat may be the only other volunteer, Raith Hollow, a powerful fire affinity with a scorching gaze that follows her every move and secrets that could topple kingdoms.
Forbidden desires become impossible to ignore, enemies approach from beyond the castle walls, and something evil has found its way inside – stalking the midnight corridors, hiding in plain sight.
Nessa must embrace her terrible potential, or watch everything she’s fought for burn.
Because at Confluence Academy, students leave as weapons… or they don’t leave at all.

N: Night Witch

Night Witch is the sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller Spellcaster with an intense enemies-to-lovers arc, a steamy heat level, magical creatures, super high stakes, and an epic family saga.
Be careful what you witch for.
Welcome to year two at Weatherstone College…
Last year, after coming face to face with darkness and lethal monsters, Logan Kingston, my sworn enemy and sometimes ally, brought my first year to an explosive ending. There’s a bond between us that I can’t explain, but I just know he’s hiding something. Maybe I don’t fully trust any spellcaster, but there’s no denying my draw to him.
I’m not going to lie, I haven’t felt myself since then, and I’m dreading returning to Weatherstone.
