Happy Sunday! I’m back today with “Sundays in Bed With….” a meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today! This meme was originally hosted by Midnight Book Girl.
Today, I’m in bed with three different books. The first is a buddy read I’m doing with Leslie @ Books Are the New Black – The Scarlet Throne. We’re not too far in yet. I just finished chapter 6, and it’s ok? I’m hoping it’ll pick up soon. Then, I’m reading an ARC of Servant of Earth. I’m about 25% through and am really enjoying it! Finally, I’m reading the graphic novel Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell. I just started this one, and I love the art and story! Let’s take a look at each of them:

Title: The Scarlet Throne
Author: Amy Leow
Series: The False Goddess #1
Page Length: 432
Pub. Date: Sept. 10, 2024
Publisher: Orbit
Synopsis: A dark, heart-thumping political epic fantasy by debut author Amy Leow—full of scheming demons, morally grey heroines, talking cats, and cut-throat priests, this delicious tale of power and corruption will captivate from beginning to end.
Binsa is a “living goddess,” chosen by the gods to dispense both mercy and punishment from her place on the Scarlet Throne. But her reign hides a deadly secret. Rather than channeling the wisdom of an immortal deity, she harbors a demon.
But now her priests are growing suspicious. When a new girl, Medha, is selected to take over her position, Binsa and her demon strike a deal: To magnify his power and help her wrest control from the priests, she will sacrifice human lives. She’ll do anything not to end up back on the streets, forgotten and alone. But how much of her humanity is she willing to trade in her quest for power? Deals with demons are rarely so simple.

Title: Servant of Earth
Author: Sarah Hawley
Series: The Shards of Magic #1
Page Length: 464
Publication Date: Nov. 19, 2024
Synopsis: In the underground Fae realm, only the strongest and most ruthless have power—but a young human woman forced into a life of servitude is about to change everything.
Kenna Heron is best known in her village for being a little wild—some say “half feral”—but she’ll need every ounce of that ferocity to survive captivity in the cruel Fae court.
Trapped as a servant in the faeries’ underground kingdom of Mistei, Kenna must help her new mistress undertake six deadly trials, one for each branch of magic: Fire, Earth, Light, Void, Illusion, and Blood. If she succeeds, her mistress will gain immortality and become the heir to Earth House. If she doesn’t, the punishment is death—for both mistress and servant.
With no ally but a sentient dagger of mysterious origins, Kenna must face monsters, magic, and grueling physical tests. But worse dangers wait underground, and soon Kenna gets caught up in a secret rebellion against the inventively sadistic faerie king. When her feelings for the rebellion’s leader turn passionate, Kenna must decide if she’s willing to risk her life for a better world and a chance at happiness.
Surviving the trials and overthrowing a tyrant king will take cunning, courage, and an iron will… but even that may not be enough.

What are you reading today? Comment below1

Not in the middle of 3, but only 2
I only can attempt the most at just two reads (no more)- as long as it is one physical and one ebook. Currently reading “Land of the Silver Apples”: the physical” and “House in the Cerulean Sea”: the ebook (thought I wouldn’t reread it, but after hearing about its sequel decided to)
Oh my gosh… I haven’t picked up this book. How far are you?!?! haha
I love the covers of the first two. I often have 2 of 3 on the go at a time, so I get it.
