Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s topic is:
Book Quotes that Fit A Theme of Your Choice
Happy Tuesday! As you know by now, I’m a sucker for a swoon-worthy romance, and I usually note my favorite quotes in the books I review. So, I’m excited about this week’s prompt because I decided to highlight some of my favorite romantic lines. I chose quotes from books that I read in either 2020 or 2021.
Here are some of my favorite swoon-worthy quotes:
1. Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen
He moved so fast she barely registered a single step before he hauled her into his arms. Her feet left the ground…his kiss was gentle. It was giving, not taking. It cherished her. Treasure, he called her in his language, and she sensed the true meaning in his tight embrace. He would never let her go. Neither would she. “I have missed you,” he said softly. “Everyday.”
Leonel

2. Gilded Serpent by Danielle L. Jensen
“If the story of your life were a book, I’d carry it with me across the world. I’d read it every night. And whenever I reached the ending of what had been shared with me, I’d open it to the first page and begin reading again.” Teriana’s eyes burned and she blinked rapidly.
“It would be a very heavy book. I’ve had a very interesting life.”
“It would be worth it.” He crossed back, hands curving around the sides of her face as he bent to kiss her forehead. “Everything you tell me is a gift.”
Marcus & Teriana

3. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.
Patroclus

4. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.
Kaz
There is no one I want more; there is nothing I want more than to be overwhelmed by you.
Matthias

5. Hidden Hart by Emily Royal
I saw your soul the first time I laid eyes on you, and you have been in my dreams ever since.
Devon

6. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
“I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I’d catch myself just walking around to find you, not for any reason, just out of habit, because I’d seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I’d realize that you weren’t there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I’ve risked my life for you. I’ve walked half the length of Ravka for you, and I’d do it again and again and again just to be with you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don’t tell me why we don’t belong together,” he said fiercely.
Mal

7. The Elements of the Crown by Kay L. Moody
“Talise.”
Her name rolled out of his mouth as if he’d been holding onto it for several days. As if he’d considered it, treasured it, and now he was just trying it out, seeing how it felt out in the open.
It felt amazing.
She hated herself for feeling like that, but she did. She wanted to hear him say it again.
Aaden & Talise

8. Flameskin by Camille Longley
He held her tight, not wanting to let go. This was why he had done it. This was why he had come back: to hold her, to bask in her happiness. To touch her and love her and call her his.
Maku

9. Sting of Thorns by Kristen Brand
Dredarion’s gaze felt like a fire heating every inch of her body, and holy hell, she might have to talk about her feelings more often if it made him look at her like that.
Leigh

10. Taken to Nobu by Elizabeth Stephens
She beams up at me, all radiant light. She would make Voraxia’s suns jealous…I nod, mute, feeling every bit a boy. Feeling every bit a King.
Va’Raku
