Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Like to Reread

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today, the topic is Books I Like to Reread. I immediately thought of The Hunger Games series and A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I’ve read both of them more times than I remember. But, there are others I’ve reread too, just not as many times. lol Let’s check them all out!

The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weight survival against humanity and life against love.

Instead of leading him directly to the afterlife, the reaper takes him to a small village. On the outskirts, off the path through the woods, tucked between mountains, is a particular tea shop, run by a man named Hugo. Hugo is the tea shop’s owner to locals and the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.

But Wallace isn’t ready to abandon the life he barely lived. With Hugo’s help he finally starts to learn about all the things he missed in life.

When the Manager, a curious and powerful being, arrives at the tea shop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days.

By turns heartwarming and heartbreaking, this absorbing tale of grief and hope is told with TJ Klune’s signature warmth, humor, and extraordinary empathy.

Have you read or reread any of these? Which books have you reread? Comment below!

16 thoughts on “Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Like to Reread

  1. You know I absolutely loved The Hunger Games growing up, but I haven’t read the books for it since they came out and I have no idea why!

  2. Okay, funny story — when I read ACOTAR for the first time, I finished the series and IMMEMDIATELY started reading the first book again. Just back to back read-throughs and you know what? It was just as enjoyable the second time around as it was the first. I’ve reread it at least twice since then and I love that series so so so much.

  3. I recently bought physical editions of The Hunger Games because I’m planning to re-read it at some point. I hope it’ll happen this year but I think it’s about time! 😂 I also think that SoA is so overdue for a re-read. It’s been *years* and now that I have a very pretty edition, I feel like I should pick it up again. Great list, Julie!

    1. Thanks, Dini! I want to reread The Hunger Fames soon even though I’ve read it a zillion times. I think it’ll be interesting to read it again since I recently read Sunrise on the Reaping. And SoA is so gorgeous. ❤️❤️

  4. A lot of great options here that I would also consider re-reading! Bridge Kingdom is one. I have The Hunger Games on hold at the library (audio) because I want to re-read it after I read Sunrise.

  5. I loved Song of Achilles, but made me fall in the Greek Mythology rabbit hole

Books I am hoping to reread, but still trying to find the right timing:

    1. The Hobbit/ Lord of the Rings- but last read it high school, but when I get back to it, this time get beyond Return of the King (I have a Lord of the Rings Magazine, which says the order to read the Middle Earth books so will rely on that

    2. True own Anne of Green Gables, but I actually read it? But if I did was totally unaware it was a series- so my reread will be the series

    3. Nevermoor- might need to reread them (all the book haven’t debuted: Silverborn is out, but slight problem my first three are in PAPERBACK- when I mean all need the same edition, all the books should be paperback- what if I wait till all 9 books debut)

  6. Great list! Even though Under the Whispering Door was an emotional roller coaster, I’d want to reread it too.

  7. I’ve read a few of these and enjoyed them. I really need to read The Song of Achilles for the first time. Nice list, Julie.
