Another Book, Another Destiny…
I’m really enjoying this gargoyle romance series. It’s intriguing and suspenseful and so swoon-worthy! Heartsworn follows June, a conservator and empath, and Alaric, an ancient warrior cursed and trapped in a stone form for centuries. June's first touch makes him come alive, but only at night, and he's sure it means they are mates. As … Continue reading Book Review: Heartsworn by S.E. Wendel
What is a legend, but a history told slantwise? I've read every book Alix E. Harrow has written, and every single one has been a five-star read for me. Her stories are always so rich and atmospheric, her prose is gorgeous and immersive, and she has this amazing ability to weave so much emotion, meaning, … Continue reading Book Review: The Slantwise Histories: Collected Stories by Alix E. This was such an engrossing story, with compelling characters, great world-building, and a swoon-worthy love story. I love the author's writing style and was very quickly invested in Eda’s story as she bargains with a demon to save her brothers. The world has atmospheric and Gothic vibes, which sets the tone for the rest of … Continue reading Book Review: Reap and Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb
I liked Under the Iron Sky, though I had some mixed feelings about the romance. This is a true enemies-to-lovers story, with Soraya and Ikarus fighting on opposite sides of a brutal war. Soraya is a high-ranking human commander who gets captured by Ikarus, one of the Dar’rak’s most feared soldiers, and he’s ordered to … Continue reading Book Review: Under the Iron Sky by A.T. Emerald
Avalon Tower is such a great start to the Fey Academy for Spies series! I really enjoyed it, especially the Gothic academy setting and the whole Arthurian legend influence. The story follows Nia, who thinks she’s going to spend her vacation in France reading books and drinking champagne, but instead she gets kidnapped by a … Continue reading Book Review: Avalon Tower by C.N. This was such a fantastic read and a brilliant start to Raven Kennedy's new duology. I would never put the story of the Pied Piper and a romantasy together, but I never imagined a Midas romantasy either, and the Plated Prisoner series is one of my all-time faves, so, I never should have doubted that … Continue reading Book Review: The Sweetest Fiend by Raven Kennedy
Sold to the Dark Vampire Prince is such an immersive and swoon-worthy start to Kat Kinney's Immortal Royals series. I’ve read several of Kinney’s series now, and they're always so entertaining! This one pulled me in with its unique supernatural world, great characters, and a fantastic romance. The world is immersive from the start. A … Continue reading Book Review: Sold to the Dark Vampire Prince by Kat Kinney
The Heart Trials was not quite what I expected going in, but I really enjoyed it. I went in expecting something a little more fun and competition-focused, but this was much darker and more brutal than I anticipated. It definitely has Hunger Games vibes, but with the added twist of a Love Island-style competition where … Continue reading Book Review: The Heart Trials by J. Elle
