Mini Reviews of the Mead Mishaps Series

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon:

Synopsis:

Spice trader Cinnamon’s quiet life is turned upside down when she ends up on a quest with a fiery demon in this irreverently quirky rom-com fantasy that is sweet, steamy, and funny as hell—perfect for fans of  Legends & Lattes  and  The Dragon’s Bride.

All she wanted to do was live her life in peace—maybe get a cat, expand the family spice farm. Really, anything that didn’t involve going on an adventure where an orc might rip her face off. But they say the Goddess has favorite, and if so, Cin is clearly not one of them…

After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all Fallon wants to do is kill an evil witch enslaving his people. And, who can blame him? But he’s dragging Cinnamon along for the ride. On the bright side, at least he keeps burning off his shirt.

My Review:

I can’t remember the last time a book made me smile and laugh as much as this one. It’s a cozy, sexy, romantasy rom-com with amazing characters and a wholly unique feel.

Lemming’s writing is very immersive, and I was quickly pulled into this original world. The characters are all so dynamic and vividly developed, and though Cin and Fallon are the focus of this book, I’m eager to learn more about so many of them! Cin has such a strong personality, and I love her fierceness and her protective nature. She is the type of person who always helps those in need, but she doesn’t put up with anything less than she deserves. She’s a great match for Fallon, who I will now officially add to my list of book boyfriends.

The romance between Cin and Fallon is super swoon-worthy, and I loved every minute of it! Ooooof, there’s so much chemistry between these two! I love Cin’s thoughts about Fallon (soooo funny) and Fallon’s intensity, arrogance, and protective nature. I mentioned earlier about the author’s writing style, and it really stands out when it comes to the dialogue and banter. There are so many funny moments mixed in with spicy banter, exciting action, and steamy scenes, and it makes for a quick, fun, and entertaining read. I’m so excited to start the next book in the series and plan to start it today!

That time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf:

Synopsis: Cheesemaker Brie has the world’s worst luck in love, which is how she ends up falling for a lactose intolerant werewolf, in this raunchy, laugh-out-loud rom-com fantasy by the genre’s freshest new voice, Kimberly Lemming.

Brie’s never been particularly coordinated…or lucky. Who else would accidentally throw a drink at someone’s head only to miss entirely and hit a stranger behind them? And who else would have that stranger fall madly in love with them because it turns out that the drink she threw was a love potion? Yeah, probably just Brie.…

Running her cheese business and dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, she has to convince a werewolf that she’s not really his fated mate. Though even she’s got to admit…having a gorgeous man show up and do all her chores while telling her she’s beautiful isn’t the worst thing to happen to a girl.

My Review:

Can this series get any more fun? I loved the first book, and this one was such a great addition to the Mead Mishaps. I knew I was in for a fun ride when I read the story was about a cheese-maker (Brie) who throws a love potion at a lactose-intolerant werewolf (Felix). lol That’s a premise I’ve never read before.

Brie and Felix are fantastic protagonists, and their romance is EVERYTHING! Felix is a total ball of mush for Brie, but Brie doubts his feelings since she accidentally hit him with a love potion. Felix has to work really hard to prove his feelings are true. Felix is so funny and charming and sweet and sexy, but Brie has a wall up and resists his charms. I love them together! There are as many laugh-out-loud and eye-rolling moments between them as there are romantic times, and they’re all as fantastic as the romance novels Brie reads. So fun!

The story has a perfect mix of fun and spicy, and the overarching plot in the series is intriguing, too. I can’t get enough of the series and plan to jump right into the next book, which is about Dante, and he sounds like he’s going to be another super swoon-worthy MMC.

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human:

Synopsis: When a spirited young woman with a penchant for adventure finds herself locked away in a dragon’s tower, she realizes that fate has a peculiar sense of humor when it comes to her romantic prospects, in this laugh-out-loud fantasy rom-com.

All children are told fairytales. Some are epic adventures with high stakes and exciting twists, while others are tales of pitiful princesses trapped in boring towers pining for their Prince Charmings to come and rescue them. Growing up, Cherry always hated those stories. Why didn’t the princesses just get up and rescue themselves? Little did she know that her own fate would take an ironically similar turn. Because now, here she is. Stuck. In a tower. Turns out, when a dragon holds you hostage, he doesn’t just let you get up and leave.

Who knew?

And just when Cherry thinks she sees hope on the horizon, that hope is smashed to bits by—you guessed it—another damn dragon.

Review:

I read all three books in Mead Mishaps in three days, and I have no regrets. It’s such a fun and unique trio, and each one has a super swoon-worthy love story! I was so excited to read Cherry’s story. In the first book, she was presumed dead, so I was intrigued to find out what really happened to her. And I adore Dante, so having him as the MMC was fantastic!

The story has a lot of humor and heart, and I like how well the world and characters are developed. But my favorite part of the story is the romance. There’s so much chemistry between Cherry and Dante, and the way Dante all but worshiped Cherry… SWOON! My word, he can make your heart melt. And when Dante gets drunk… so comical.

Lemming has a talent for writing charming and romantic fantasies with absolutely amazing banter, humor, and a few fan-worthy steamy scenes. The dialogue in all three of the books in this series is fantastic, too, and it adds so much depth to the characters and relationships. I just can’t get enough of her stories!
