Synopsis:
Clashing ghost tours lead to a sizzling romantic rivalry in the second romance in the new series from USA Today bestselling author Jen DeLuca.
Boneyard Key, Florida, is the only home Sophie has ever known. Her love for its supernatural history has flourished into a career, as she guides the one and only ghost tour through the town’s can’t-miss haunted spots. And while her bank account isn’t full by any means, her heart is. Or at least, it was.
But there’s a newcomer in town. The son of a Fortune 500 businessman, former theater kid Tristan has grown his tours from a fraternity fundraiser to a multicity ghost tour conglomerate. It’s doing well, but not well enough—if he can’t prove that he’s solidly in the black by the fall, Dad’s going to pull his funding, spelling the end of his career. Boneyard Key, with its haunted reputation, seems like the perfect place to boost his bottom line.
When the two ghost tours clash, Sophie’s expletive-filled rant goes viral, and the rivals strike up a deal. Whoever has the most successful business by summer’s end stays, while the loser must ghost. But the more Tristan comes to appreciate Boneyard Key, the more Sophie comes to appreciate Tristan, and what starts as begrudging respect becomes something spicier. Can they put their feuding businesses aside to make room for a chance at love, or is Boneyard Key too small for two ghost tours?

I was happy to head back to Boneyard Key with its unique setting and quirky cast of characters, both human and ghost.
This story follows Sophie, the town tour guide, who had a minor role in Haunted Ever After. I really liked Sophie. She was intelligent and interesting, and she was surrounded by a fantastic group of friends. I actually enjoyed the friendships more than the romance. They and the setting were the highlights of the story for me.
As much as I liked Sophie, I didn’t really like Tristan. He was artificial and smarmy, and his attitude toward Boneyard Key was insulting. He’s arrogant, and he manipulates Sophie to get more social media attention for his company, which is Sophie’s direct competition. I didn’t understand what Sophie saw in him other than his good looks because, for me, his personality was lacking.
Even though I didn’t like the romance, there were other parts I enjoyed enough to keep me reading. The history of the town, Sophie and her friends, the fun setting, and the haunted elements were all great, as is the small town charm.
Thanks to NetGalley and pub for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

- Rivals to lovers

I have this queued to read as well! I cant wait to see what i think!
I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing — sounds like a mixed bag! I had this on my to-read queue for fall, but ended up not picking it up. I liked the first book well enough, but haven’t felt compelled to continue, at least not yet.
I enjoyed the first book, too. This one was just ok.
If you liked the first one, you might like this one too, but I felt like it lost some of the charm.
