A high octane sexy space heist from New York Times-bestselling author Beth Revis, the first in a novella trilogy.

Ada Lamarr may have gotten to the spaceship wreck first, but looter’s rights won’t get her far when she’s got a hole in the side of her ship and her spacesuit is almost out of air. Fortunately for her, help arrives in the form of a government salvage crew—and while they reluctantly rescue her from certain death, they are not pleased to have an unexpected passenger along on their classified mission.

But Ada doesn’t care—all that matters to her is enjoying their fine food and sweet, sweet oxygen—until Rian White, the government agent in charge, starts to suspect that there’s more to Ada than meets the eye. He’s not wrong—but he’s so pretty that Ada is perfectly happy to keep him paying attention to her—at least until she can complete the job she was sent to pull off. But as quick as Ada is, Rian might be quicker—and she may not be entirely sure who’s manipulating who until it’s too late…

A phenomenally fun novella that kicks off a trilogy of sexy space heists and romantic tension, Full Speed to a Crash Landing is packed with great characters and full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end.

Review

Wow! What a fun, suspenseful, and surprising novella! I really enjoyed this read. It’s amazing how much Revis packed into this story starting with an exciting and suspenseful opening scene that introduces us to an intriguing protagonist. A scavenger with a sharp wit and intellect, Ada is fearless and cunning, and I love her personality. She’s so funny and the way she banters with her rescuers cracked me up.

The story is told from Ada’s perspective, and you quickly learn there’s way more to her than meets the eye. She is such a fun main character, and she goes on a dangerous adventure to retrieve something from an uninhabited and lava-filled planet. It’s fantastic – suspenseful and dangerous while still funny and charming.

The crew aboard the ship that rescues Ada has some great personalities, and they each respond to Ada so differently. There’s one character in particular with whom Ada has an exorbitant amount of chemistry, and the way she teases him and throws him off his guard is fantastic, as are the growing feelings they seem to have for each other. Rian and Ada come from very different worlds, and a lot of secrets, lies, and more stand between them. I’m dying to see where their relationship is headed, especially because they have different views on many things, especially the way the government is run.

I also liked the world-building and thought it was impressive that Revis built such a complex world in a novella of this length. There are no info dumps, and the various settings are so vivid. Revis’s writing is engaging, immersive, and descriptive while still being concise. She truly has a way with words.

A fast-paced and fun space adventure with unique worlds, engaging characters, and a bit of romance, this is a quick and entertaining read. There are also some interesting documents and notes at the end of the story, and between them and that ending, I can’t wait to read the next book!

      1. I’m probably not going to read it anytime soon. It’s very expensive for a novella. I don’t think it’s being published in the UK so just imported copies which are pricey ☹️

  1. I’ve been a fan of Revis since I got to take part in the blog tour launch of her first book. I am SO excited about this upcoming series, and cannot wait to read. Sounds like it’ll be a thrilling and amusing adventure 😀

  2. It takes talent to write a novella that really shines. I like the sound of this one, and a space heist and story is something that I haven’t read before and it intrigues me. Nice review, Julie.
