Synopsis:
After a few weeks trapped on board a spaceship with Ada (and, oh look, there’s only one bed), Rian has to admit that maybe Ada’s rebels have a point. The nanobots poised to be unleashed on Earth are infected with malware that will ultimately leave the residents of Earth in a worse position than they’re in now. But is it too late?
Ada and Rian arrive on Earth with little time to spare. Together, they have to break into a high-security facility and infect the nanobots with a counter-virus before they’re released in order to give Earth a fighting chance. And if Ada happens to notice some great tech laying around in this high-security facility she shouldn’t have access to and then happens to steal a bunch of it when Rian’s not looking? Well, he knew who she was before he teamed up with her. And if he wants it back, he’s going to have to catch her first.
With countless twists and turns, this enemies-to-lovers slow-burn and high-tension romance plays on a Sherlock and Moriarity character dynamic rooted in science fiction with a heavy romance and mystery angle.

Last Chance to Save the World is a fast-paced, high-stakes finale that’s a wild ride from start to finish. I’ve loved this novella series, and this was a fantastic ending. The trilogy has the perfect mix of snarky banter, clever heists, and an epically slow-burning romance that I adored.
The plot is suspenseful and high-stakes as Ada and Rian break into a high-security facility to stop corrupted nanobots from wreaking havoc on Earth. It’s exactly the kind of clever, confounding, and chaotic mission you would expect from Ada. She’s always ten steps ahead, and watching her make her plans a reality while Rian struggles to keep up is so much fun.
I also loved that we got more of Ada’s backstory. It added new layers to her character and gave me a deeper understanding of her motivations and goals. She’s a master manipulator, but somehow, she still has a moral compass buried under all that shadiness. We learn more about Rain, too, which I liked. He tries so hard to be responsible and do things by the book, but Ada is a force too powerful to resist. I like the npush and npull between these two and how their stories, both as a pair and individually, developed.
Though I wouldn’t exactly label this a love story, Ada and Rian have an entertaining romance. They’re constantly at odds with each other, and there are some strong enemies-to-lovers vibes as well as palpable sexual tension. I was curious to see what would happen between them after the second book. Happily, the sexual tension and banter between them are as strong as ever. However, while their chemistry is still off the charts, I was hoping for a little more resolution in the form of an HEA. The ending fits their characters, but after three novellas of buildup, I wanted something more solid. It’s not that the ending isn’t satisfying. A lot of things are resolved, but the way it ends leaves room for more, which makes me hope that this isn’t truly the last we see of Ada and Rian.
Romance frustrations aside, I loved how Revis pulled together all the loose threads from the series. The twists were brilliant, the heist itself was sharp and well-executed, and the humor was on point as always. And, of course, the inclusion of Rian’s reports—full of his exasperation, denial, and underlying feelings for Ada—was just perfect.
Overall, this book (and the entire trilogy) has been a blast, and I’m sad it’s only a trilogy. I’d happily read another trilogy following Ada and Rian or even some of the minor characters (love so many of them!) because there’s still so much potential for their story and this universe Revis created.

I really enjoyed Book #1 in this series – light quick, and fun. Your reviews makes me want to get back to it and read books 2 and 3!

Great review, Julie! I felt exactly the same about the ending… as much as I loved it for the characters individually, I kinda wished Revis would ignore all that and let them be together lol.
Same! lol I think she needs to add tot he series. I need more.
