The captivating sequel to the Gothic-infused Belladonna, in which Signa and Death face a supernatural foe determined to tear them apart.

A duke has been murdered. The lord of Thorn Grove has been framed. And Fate, the elusive brother of Death, has taken up residence in a sumptuous estate nearby. He’s hellbent on revenge after Death took the life of the woman he loved many years ago…and now he’s determined to have Signa for himself, no matter the cost.

Signa and her cousin Blythe are certain that Fate can save Elijah Hawthorne from prison if they will entertain his presence. But the more time the girls spend with Fate, the more frightening their reality becomes as Signa exhibits dramatic new powers that link her to Fate’s past. With mysteries and danger around every corner, the cousins must decide if they can trust one another as they navigate their futures in high society, unravel the murders that haunt their family, and play Fate’s unexpected games—all with their destinies hanging in the balance.

Dangerous, suspenseful, and seductive, this sequel to Signa and Death’s story is as utterly romantic as it is perfectly deadly.

Review

“You are mine. You are mine, Signa Farrow. I will burn this world to cinders before I let anyone take you from me.”

Well, I had high hopes for Foxglove after reading and LOVING Belladonna, and I’m happy to say this exceeded my expectations! What a fantastic sequel! Signa, Blythe, Death, and more are back as another murder shatters their peace, and Signa’s beloved uncle is accused of committing the crime. Fate, who has a unique connection to Death and Signa, also appears, causing turmoil and tension as he tries to win Signa and get revenge on Death. It’s a whirlwind of suspenseful drama and surprising revelations that captivated me from start to finish!

The story is told from both Signa and Blythe’s perspective, which I loved. Blythe is as dynamic and interesting as Signa, and her personality really shines in this book. As Blythe tries to find a way to save her father, she also learns much more about what happened while she was ill. Signa’s story is interesting too as she deals with the aftereffects of what happened in Belladonna. Guilt, secrets, lies, and more plague her, as does her inability to be with Death and the appearance of the mysterious Fate.

I still adore Death (I never thought I’d say that lol) and wanted more time with him in this book. He wasn’t as prominent as he was in the first book, though his presence is felt in almost every scene. The love story between him and Signa has my whole heart, and I was so worried as the charming but manipulative Fate tried to break them apart. Speaking of Fate, I’m not sure why I like the morally grey villain, but I do! He’s charismatic and elegant and shady beyond belief, and his love for his soul mate knows no bounds.

I liked everything about this book. The characters are fabulous, the relationships are complicated and nuanced. I especially love how the relationship between Signa and Blythe changed and developed. They go through so much, both together and apart, and a lot of things come between them, but their love for each other is remarkable. There are several stand-out minor characters, too, that I’m really curious about, and I’m hoping to see more of them in the next book.

The ending had me in a total chokehold, and after what happened, I can’t wait to read the next book! I think we are only seeing the beginning of Blythe’s strength, and am eager to see how her story progresses, especially as it relates to Fate and her destiny. I’m also interested to see how Signa and Death play into it and how their relationship progresses. Plus, I’m sure there’ll be another mystery to contend with, which is always intriguing!

Special thanks to TBR & Beyond Tours for having me on the tour. All thoughts are my own.

“If playing dirty is what it takes to get you to remember all that you have lost, then I will be the filthiest bastard you’ve ever met, Signa Farrow.”

It was she who had warned Signa all those months ago of just how willing society was to pluck the skin from one’s bones to worsen any wound.

“I swear to you I will always be yours, even when I’m not.”

A person could not cower when targeted by a vulture, for such a scavenger would only continue to circel. To peck and wear its prey down until it was ripe for the feast. Signa Farrow was many things, but she was not prey.

“Whatever you are and whatever you can do, you are not who Fate expects you to be. You are still Signa Farrow, and I am not a good enough man to allow my brother to take you from me.”
