Synopsis:

A car crash. A cowboy. And a moody tween. That’s how my happily-ever-after starts.

An adorable cowboy literally carries me to safety after my car flips, and that’s when I feel it. The spark. Until meeting him, I always thought the spark was just figurative. Nope. Real tingles.

He’s friendly and attentive but cautious, and I start to think he isn’t interested. Then I get the scoop. Carson recently adopted his nephew and is learning to be a dad. To a preteen.

That only makes me like Carson more. I make that clear, and we start dating. Taking it slow, we date in secret for a while. And the little spark turns into more.

When it’s clear this isn’t a passing infatuation for either of us, he introduces me to Fred.

And the kid doesn’t like me.

How do I get him to understand that I don’t want to divide their little family? I just want to become part of it.

Is it even possible to get a tween boy to change his mind? I hope so. My happily-ever-after depends on it.

Review

This is the last book in the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch series, and I’m so sad to see it go! It’s such a feel-good, sweet contemporary romance series, and I’ve enjoyed every book. More Than a Little Spark is no exception. It’s a charming story and a wonderful ending to the series that begins with a dramatic meet cute and ends with a fabulous HEA.

Carson and Daphne have an instant spark even though they meet under disastrous circumstances. I adored them together. Daphne is sweet, patient, and understanding, and her devotion to Carson is exactly what he deserves because he’s a total cinnamon roll. Since he first took him into his care, Carson has always put his nephew first, and I love that about him. He adopted his nephew, who had a tough childhood with Carson’s sister. Now with Carson, his nephew finally has a chance at a stable life, and Carson won’t do anything to jeopardize that, even if it means he has to sacrifice his own happiness. I also love that Carson isn’t the typical hunky cowboy with six-pack abs. He sounds like a normal guy, and though this causes him a lot of insecurities, especially since Daphne is so gorgeous and he feels like she’s out of his league, I thought he sounded pretty swoon-worthy.

Like the other books in the series, the found family is one of my favorite parts of the book. Stargazer Springs Ranch is more than just a place to work. It’s a home, and all of the workers and their families form such a fantastic, large, and loving unit. They are all so supportive of each other, and they celebrate together and share in life’s joys, obstacles, and heartaches. In this story, we see some of the younger residents befriend Carson’s son, which is great on so many levels. It’s clear that the kids have learned from this large group of wonderful people how to be loyal, caring, and truthful, even when it’s not what you want to hear.

I would definitely recommend this book (and the whole series) to contemporary romance readers who enjoy clean and charming love stories with compelling characters and small-town charm. And though it’s the final book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.
