The Pepper Bay books are standalone stories that intertwine with recurring characters.

Lemon Drop Cottage: At first glance, Scott Harper is a shy artist who keeps himself to himself, but he isn’t the man everyone thinks he is. Scott has a secret. One that has kept him firmly away from any chance of having an intimate relationship. The only woman in his life is the one he talks to online but has never met. It’s easier that way, for them both.

Dolly Lynch has just taken over her aunt’s shop in Pepper Bay. Between looking after her teenage son, running around for her old aunt, moving home, and opening a new shop, she barely has time to herself, so she really appreciates the moments she spends talking online with a man she’s never met. Little does she know he’s the same man who lives just up the road in the cutest cottage she has ever seen.

My Review:

The Pepper Bay series is a charming contemporary romance series, and Lemon Drop Cottage is a great addition to it. Scott and Dolly are well-developed and interesting characters, and I was really intrigued by Dolly when she was mentioned in previous books. She kept to herself and seemed quite reserved, and I wanted to know more about her, what brought her to Pepper Bay, and what made her keep people at a distance.

Scott is great too. He is so kind and thoughtful, and he knows how to take charge in tough situations. He fits right in with the other people of Pepper Bay and is as hunky as the other heroes. However, he has some secrets that prevent him from getting too close to anyone. He and Dolly have an unusual connection, and it’s interesting to see how they handle some of the secrets and surprise revelations.

Scott and Dolly have amazing chemistry, and they have so many wonderful moments together. I love their teasing and banter and how happy they make each other. They are both lonely people, and to see them find a sense of belonging with each other is lovely. From their first meeting, you can tell there’s a spark between them.

Pepper Bay has the small-town charm that I adore in romance novels, and Lemon Drop Cottage sounds so quaint. Of course, the characters introduced in previous books in the series all have roles in this book as well, and one character has a delightful surprise that brings everyone together. I like that all of these characters are united in their love of Pepper Bay and that they have forged these life-long relationships. It just adds to the charming and heartwarming feel to the story.

Special thanks to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
