Synopsis: While promoting her next novel, a Christmas love story, author Riley Reynolds is caught off guard when she’s asked during a live national television interview how she can write about romance when she still hasn’t found “the one” herself. Scrambling for an answer, she quickly answers that she has had great love in her past and that love inspired her novels.
Little does she know that this one offhanded remark will turn her world upside down. Three of her ex-boyfriends see the interview, and each, believing she’s talking about him, shows up for her Christmas Camp book event at the Christmas Lake Lodge, determined to rewrite his happily-ever-after with her!
Over the festive weekend, Riley’s old boyfriends compete to win her heart, pulling out all the stops while planning the most romantic Christmas dates on the planet. Despite herself, Riley starts falling for each guy— again—but for different reasons. As Riley revisits each relationship and discovers more about herself, she embraces the magic of Christmas and finally finds true love and her own Christmas ever after…

I’m so loving the holiday romances this year! Christmas Ever After is a charming and cozy read with wonderful characters and a sweet romance. It reminds me a bit of The Bachelorette meets A Christmas Carol meets a Hallmark Christmas movie, which is a good thing! I think that it is well-paced and fun with some funny moments and positive themes.
Riley is a writer who doesn’t like Christmas who is tasked with writing a Christmas book at a Christmas camp in a Santa themed bedroom. To make matters worse, she talked about the “one who got away” in an interview, and three of her exes are convinced Riley was talking about them. So, they each go to the camp to rekindle their relationships with her. But Riley is interested in someone else, and she’s not sure how he feels. I like Riley’s character. She goes from disliking Christmas to appreciating the true meaning of the holiday, and she finds love along the way.
I also really enjoyed Riley and Luke’s romance! Luke is helping at his mother’s Christmas lodge, and his feelings about Christmas are the exact opposite of Riley’s. He loves everything Christmas! Even though they are quite different, Luke and Riley have a great connection, and I love their witty and fun banter. They have a lot of chemistry, and their love story is sweet.
On top of the magical and festive setting and the lovely romance, there is an adorable dog named Comet! Comet, a Bernese Mountain Dog, is a fantastic addition to the story and is so lovable and cute!
Though this is a lighter read, the story also addresses issues like grief and work pressure. I think it’s a lovely story with a lot of heart, and if you like festive, fun, and sweet stories about finding happiness and embracing the holiday spirit, then you’ll enjoy it too!
- The romance, of course!
- The holiday magic. I’m loving the holiday themed romances this year!
- Comet! I love when rom-coms include fun and lovable dogs!
This is a fantastic story for people who like contemporary holiday romances with great characters and tons of charm!

This sounds lovely 🎄❤️
It is – a festive, charming story! 🙂
Love Christmas- that is my favorite Holiday. This year, the only Christmas Books I read are from A Christmas Treasury
Nice! Hope you have a great holiday! 🙂
Just there is less Christmas Spirit- Lessons and Carols and the Christmas Eve Candlelight service. I feel my Christmas Spirit really strong at church especially during those two
Even is strong on Christmas Eve and the day of Christmas. I am the first usually to wake up on Christmas- so, all I do is wind up opening up my stocking. One of my family tradition is eating Cinnamon Crumb Cake for Breakfast
This is the holiday romance that I’m looking for… 🙂
It’s really good!!
I wasn’t sure about this one but maybe I’ll give it a try. Nice review!
Thanks so much! 🙂
